USDA Highlights Farm Food Safety Program Assistance Deadline

Applications for eligible program expenses will be accepted through January 31.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) brought attention to the Food Safety Certification for Specialty Crops program deadline for eligible expenses to obtain or renew a food safety certification. The certification is meant for small and very small businesses looking to sell their produce in 2024, and applications for the program and certification cost coverage may be made through January 31.

“The Food Safety Certification for Specialty Crops program is just one of the many ways USDA is helping support local and regional food systems and opportunities for small-scale producers,” said Farm Service Agency Administrator Zach Ducheneaux. “I’m encouraging specialty crop growers to discover how this program can help mitigate the costs of on-farm food safety certification and meeting regulatory requirements and apply by the January deadline.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For FSA Administrator Ducheneaux as he facilitates the Food Safety Certification for Specialty Crops program.
  • For Secretary Tom Vilsack to be led by the Lord as he oversees the USDA.
  • For farmers and ranchers as they navigate the regulations of the government and the challenges of the economy and inflation.
